This product line is so Haute in my world right now.
Everything I have tried so far I have loved. From the massage creams to the bath salts, even the nail colors. I love that you can get them in mini sizes, for those trendy colors that you just don't need a full-sized bottle. I'm big on Mellow and Hijinx! The lotions are thick, absorb quickly and are scented perfectly, my favorite is CLOSE YOUR EYES™, Geranium just might be my new favorite fragrance. You can find it at many spas around the world and their website www.sparitual.com

Haute Idea...
So I met with a business broker yesterday and did a tour of a really cute spa. I liked it and saw a lot of potential. I was up all night working numbers and re-doing my business plan to fit the location. Some major pluses and minuses popped out at me. So I am off to a conference call with my business coach and tomorrow meetings all day with an attorney and CPA and banker to see if it all makes sense. WOW! Just realized how close this is all coming to being real!
Wish me luck!

Haute Right Now... Rhonda Allision Clarifying Beads
So I am back on my hunt for the perfect scrub and my latest trial includes the Rhonda Allison Clarifying Beads.
I must say I was on the fence. As a gentle everyday scrub it is perfect, but if you are looking for a little more power this just isn't going to give it to you. For all my sensitive skin people this is PERFECT. A soft all purpose scrub that can also be used as a cleanser so you can skip a step. It foams up slightly and leaves the skin soft, CLEAN and fresh feeling. No soapy residue or annoying granules left over when used in the shower. My skin did feel exfoliated... just not really enough. When I used it at the vanity I removed with a cloth and several rinses of water and didn't have residue issues then either. I am happy to report absolutely NO SCENT! A big in my book.
Overall my vote.... as an everyday use it's great, if you are looking to conslidate your program down to less steps and don't have super dry skin, it's a win. But if you are look for a deep cleaning scrub... this just isn't the one.

Haute Idea... update.
Ok so I am meeting with a business broker today to begin the process of finding my DREAM location! I just got off the phone with my business/life coach and am ready to rock this. I have narrowed it down to 2 neighborhoods I would prefer and also know the specifics of what I am looking for and price range. My vision is of 5-7 treatment rooms and room to do more than just spa services. I would like a large meeting room where I can hold workshops, yoga and guided meditations. And being by the water is a big want for me. I will let everyone know how it goes! Thanks for all the emails and messages of encouragement.

Haute Skin Eats...
Spent the day in San Francisco today with husband, and of course I picked up some great Haute Skin Care finds. I will let you all know if any of them turn out to be winners. After a long traffic filled drive home we were starved! But since it was late neither of us wanted anything heavy. So for husband I made scrambled eggs w/ sausage and for me I made my new favorite treat! I picked this up from Paleo Plan and I really recommend the site for those that are looking to transform their skin. Cutting out or at least cutting back on a few harmful ingredients will make a HUGE difference on your skin.
Hautemeal! (Paleo plan calls it Almost Oatmeal, but I like my title better)
Supplies
Crunchy Almond butter-- Organic of course
Organic UNSWEETENED Applesauce
Cinnamon
To do:
Heat up 3 tbs of Applesauce in pan or microwave add 1 tbs of almond butter and stir until fully heated and mixed. Add Cinnamon to taste and you now have a yummy treat!
I will add a pic tomorrow since my email is down and I can't transfer the pic without it!

Haute Love...
I am so in love with this body wash right now. The glominerals honey sugar butter...
I am really picky about body washes. They either don't lather enough or they lather too much. The scent isn't right or they leave me feeling soap scummy! But this beauty is my favorite of right now. The lather is nice and luxurious and doesn't leave a squeaky gross feeling. I use with loofah gloves or a puff. But the scent is lovely, like a warm baked sugar cookie. Something about the scent makes me want to bake! I just love it. glo describes it as: Designed to gently cleanse while a delicate blend of pure honey and shea butter impart moisture to the skin.I went and bought the little travel kit so I could give the other products in the line a whurl!Seriously AMAZING! Pick it up and see what I'm talking about. Thanks to glominerals for the picture.

One of my favorite things...
So here is a little tip for all my fellow acne sufferes.... Ice is your friend.
When you have an ugly breakout, or just had an extraction facial or peel, just think... ice, ice, baby.
I keep little mini cups in my freezer, tear the outside off and ice away the inflammation. It really helps to massage the areas with the most inflammation and leave the non-acne skin alone. Keep in mind that you want to do this in stages. I ice on for about 3-4 minutes, then give my skin a little break and re-ice for around 3-4 minutes more. Be careful not to OVER ice! I prefer distilled water but that is just a quirk of mine. If you don't like the feel of the ice grab some ice globes or frozen, smooth, plastic baby teether. But ice in a towel doesn't really work since you want to massage the area and not leave the ice in one place for too long. I usually do this right after my skincare routine and before I go to bed at night.
A great resource for an anti-acne diet and my favorite new website...http://www.paleoplan.com/

Haute Idea! The big vision!
Okay so I am looking to expand my career! I'm wanting to opening a large day spa that would focus on luxury and health. Currently I have a small studio that focuses on luxury skincare and adult acne. My ultimate goal is to own a small (7-10 room) retreat inn. There are not many available spaces here in Monterey (at least not any that fit into my budget) and my husband would never agree to move (totally born/raised Monterey boy) so I had to find a baby step to reach my goal. What better way than a totally unique day spa. A place that focuses on health from the inside out. Workouts, diet (paleo of course!), skincare, meditation and body care. I am so excited to start on this journey. I have begun the hard (for me) process of compiling a business plan and complete vision. Now I am looking for just the right space. Check back here to see my progress and as always learn the latest in Haute Skin Care!
oooohhh and give me some advice! What things do you love about your favorite spa? What are your top 3 business tips? What is the worst experience you have ever had at a spa? etc...

Haute Right Now... Sundari & Spa Ritual
I'm totally in love with these Haute Skincare finds...
Sundari Gotu Kola and Geranium Moisturizer
Yum, yum! This moisturizer feels like silk. It goes on smooth and absorbs quickly leaving my skin feeling soft and hydrated. I love the light fresh, herbal/floral smell It's just light enough to give you that luxurious relaxing aroma without over staying it's welcome. The packaging is nice, airless pumps, cute logo nice colors. But the best of me is 7 days in and no new breakouts!
Spa Ritual Handprint Serum
I am so in love with this product. I use about 2 pumps every morning and night, with their massage cream to seal it in and I swear my hands feel softer. As and esthetician I am always washing my hands, so I am constantly looking for new products to keep them soft. I love this! The scent is a dreamy citrus scent and the feel is light. You can layer it under ANY lotion and it will not feel heavy or sticky. My new must have item.

Haute Skin Eats...
My new favorite "Paleo" Recipe. I love paleo recipes to keep my skin clear and radiant. And the recipes are usually super easy. A plus for someone who like me has set the oven on fire more the a dozen times. This a great breakfast or a super quick dinner.
Paleo Quiche
Supplies:
4 Ramekins
4 pieces nitrate free turkey bacon-cooked each side for 2 minutes or until just barely curled
1 tomato- sliced
1 cup spinach cooked
4 eggs
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Place bacon around rim of ramekins. Place two slices of tomato at bottom of each ramekin. Top with a spoonful of cooked spinach and crack and egg on top. Repeat for remaining ramekins. Place all four ramekins on baking dish and bake for 20 minutes or until egg is cook to your liking. I usually add a little ground turkey or beef and onions in my husbands portions. But you can really add any vegetable or meat that you prefer. Stay away from cheese since dairy inflames the skin!

My Five Favorite Foundations... (street wear)
I am a big foundation diva. I have tried all of them out there and here are my top 5 favorites and why.
1. Being True Loose Mineral Foundation SPF 17-- The coverage is amazing and the idebenone just sets this foundation over the top for me. Not only does it help cover breakouts but helps prevent breakouts and speed up the recovery of the ones you already have! This is a everyday winner.
2. Becca Stick Foundation SPF 30-- I like this as a foundation or a concealer under a mineral foundation. It is super easy to apply and a great non-messy travel foundation. This is super versatile and can be applied lightly or full coverage. The perfect travel foundation.
3. Colorescience Sheer Creme Foundation SPF 17- a lovely, light and soft finish. Contains Vitamin A, E and C. This is my quick weekend foundation, I apply it after my moisturizer with my fingers, throw on some mascara and am ready to go. I love this just not the smell! My weekend Warrior.
4. Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15-- Light, hydrating, SPF protection what more could a girl want? But the feel and scent of this foundation really sets it over the top for me. My Fall/Winter dream foundation.
5. Mac Face & Body-- Super easy to blend and create your own custom color and it is water resistant. A great piece to have on hand to cover blemishes on the legs and arms or if you are spending a day by the pool. Just remember this does NOT contain SPF, so layer that under. My emergency cure-all.

Spray Away A Bad Day...
We've all had them. A horrible bad day! You know when everything seems to be going wrong, messy or crazy. When I am stressed and need a minute I grab an aroma mist, and steal a minute to Relax, Breathe and Revitalize. My favorite is the Colorescience Be Still Mist. A soothing blend of chamomile and Ylang Ylang that leaves your skin hydrated and relaxed. It also helps to set or reset your makeup. So the next time you need a minute grab a mist and spray away a bad day. And here is your chance to grab one on me!

Thursday Reviews | Dermalogica Skin Prep Scrub | May 12, 2011
Okay so I am in a mad hunt for a perfect scrub. This week I have been using the Dermalogica Skin Prep Scrub. It was recommended to me by several people all who swear by it. So I thought I would give it a try.
I used in in the AM during my shower. At first I thought it would work but... The consitency was odd. More cream than scrub and the granules were more on the larger side. It would be great for someone who has more of a sensitive skin but it did nothing for my skin. I felt like my pores looked larger and it did nothing to remove the dead skin build up, if anything I felt like it clogged my pores. The smell was odd, kinda cheap or generic. I saw no improvement.
Overall... I hated it. I purchased the Micro-foliant also so I have that scheduled for next week.
Thank you to Dermalogica for the picture.

Haute Right Now
One of my favorite things...
Retinol, Retinol, I love you!
Retinol just seems to be my cure all to everything. It has made a huge difference in my acne and acne scarring and I swear it is the reason I don’t have crows feet! I use it only at night since I don’t like to mix my Vitamin C (am) with my retinols (pm). Start with a low percentage rate retinol serum like Sonya Dakar Retinol Renew or Roc Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Serum and work your way up to something a little stronger like Jan Marini Factor A cream or Factor A Mask. You will be amazed by the results. I layer mine with either Glycolic or Kojic Acid. Know that you may expierence some sensitivy (redness, flaky) for 3-5 days. Start with every third night and work up or down depending on your skins reaction and sensitivity then add the AHA layering after your skin becomes accustomed to the Retinol.
Results can be seen with improvements in your skin after just a few days. With continued use of retinol you will notice diminished fine lines and wrinkles, a smoother overall appearance of facial contours and evened out skin tone. I noticed my skin become healthier looking. Those with keratosis pilaris may also see improvements from retinol. Retinol is great to combine with your AHAs. Where AHA stimulate topical exfoliation, Retinol helps with renewal of new skin.

Happy Mother's Day...
I went to live with my Obaasan (grandma) and Aunt when I was a little girl. I have to say I learned my love of skincare from my Obaasan and my passion for makeup from my Aunt. When I was little my Obaasan would let me use her moisturizer and it was a big deal for me. I always tell the story of how she told me not to forget my neck so when I was older I wouldn't have a loose "chicken neck!" Proud to say that stuck and I always moisturizer my neck and not a sign in sight for chicken neck!
When no one was home I would sneak upstairs and play with my Aunt's shoes and makeup, she was the first person to teach me how to do my eye makeup and introduce me to Manolo. Later she would take me to San Francisco to Neiman Marcus for a makeover when I did well in school or some random sporting event. When I decided to go to beauty school it was my Aunt who encouraged me and even paid for it. To this day they both encourage me in my skincare adventures and I am so grateful that they encouraged me to follow my dreams.
So here is to my Obaasan (grandma) and my Obasan (Aunt). Thank you and I love you!

I am craving this little machine!
We all want hair free everything! But I hate shaving and have tried laser in doctor’s offices and while I don't mind waxing I would like more permanent results. The price of laser treatments are just crazy and it takes forever (6 or more visits at $1000 each!). Intro the Tria Laser Hair Remover... This little baby promises to get rid of unwanted body hair in 6 months with results starting at 3 months. The price isn’t cheap but $495 is a bargain compared to $6000 or more. I saw it originally at the SF Women's Expo last fall and have been craving it ever since. Anyone out there tried it? Give me some feedback.

Rhonda Allison Amino Peptide Moisturizer
My must have moisturizer for May is this amazing creation. It is light and luxe with a yummy citrus scent. I apply it nightly after my skin care routine and sleep my way into amazing skin. It never feels greasy or heavy and so far (5 days in) no breakouts! RA says it is a potent blend of enriched protein, amino acids, vitamins and herbs that provide hydtration and tissue building of the skin. I love the soothing Aloe and skin boosting Lactic Acid. Proteins and amino acids help the skin build healthy wrinkle free cell so this moisturizer is PACKed with skin boosters, builders and fabulousness. But I can't get over how great is smells. Rarely does a product that is good for you smell good too.
Here is a pic of me in the morning with nothing on but Sonya Dakar Omega Oil in Clear and Rhonda Allisons Amino Peptide Moisturizer!

Haute Wedding Looks...
So I had a garden party to attend and decided to go in a Royal Wedding appropriate look...
To achieve the look I went with...
Becca Stick foundation in Tahini under the eyes and on my 3 blemishes on the Right side of my face. I blended it with my fingers and a MAC 190 brush.
I followed that with Being True Mineral Foundation in Fair #2 all over the face with a Being True Long Handle Mineral Foundation brush.
Next I worked the eyes with a MAC Vanilla eyeshadow all over the lid with a Being True Eye Shadow Brush. Followed by Being True Eyeshadow in Flax in the crease using a MAC 219 and blended down onto the lower lid and to the lashline with a MAC 217. I finished it with MAC Gilt By Association with a clean MAC 219 and the same 217 to blend in the crease and lower lash line.
I then lined the upper and lower lashes in Benefits Bad Girl eyeliner making sure the top liner is thicker than the bottom liner and Mary Kay Ultimate mascara in Black.
Brows are Becca Medium brow powder with a Being True Brow brush.
Cheeks are Being True Soft Plum Cream blush with a soft powder blush brush by True. Applied very lightly to the apples of the cheeks.
I completed the look with chantecaille lipliner and Becca Gisella lipcolor. And Sonya Dakar Aromosol mist in Clear to set the look.
The hair is curled lightly with a 3 inch barrel curler on the ends only and parted 3/4 to the left, pinned back lightly behind both ears.
The Hat is Kitty Andrews and the sweater is from Forever 21.

Haute Eats....
Blueberries rank #1 when it comes to antioxidants. With almost 1/3 more antioxidant power than cranberries. It is also a native fruit to North America and grows almost all year long starting in Florida and moving up the east coast to Canada. Make sure to integrate the skins of the blueberry in your cooking to benefit from all of the anthocyanin in the pigments. Wild blueberries tend to contain more brain-saving bioflavonoids than the domestic ones. Blueberries have many health benefits like lowing cholestrol, helping to prevent UTIs, high in antioxidants to help prevent skin damage and aging, helps with brain memory coordination and balance, and helps to improve eyesight.
If you are looking for a sweet way to boost your skin's appearance and healthy, grab a hand-full of blueberries and snack away!
A quick and easy blueberry facial mask to help with anti-aging:
Mix 3 tbs fresh, organic blueberries in a blender with 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice and 1 tbs. oatmeal. Blend until smooth. Apply to face with fan brush and allow to sit for 20 minutes, rinse with warm water and apply your regular nightly skin routine.
Thank you to: BLUEBERRIES

Haute tips to live by...
If you could go back in time and tell your 14 year old self a few things to do/not do (skincare tips only) what would they be....
I would tell her to put down that Diet Coke and pickup a bottle of water. That caffeine and Aspartame did nothing for my teenage acne besides dehydrate my skin. Let her know to layoff the La Mer... it was way to heavy for my skin back then, though my uber dry skin loves it now. Then I would hand her a bottle of SPF, tell her to get more sleep and be on my way back to my 30s. There really isn't enough incentive in the world to get me to relive the teen years!
Thank you for the picture...

Haute Right Now
What's Haute in my world...
Macadamia Nut Oil... I love the Morracan but the smell can sometimes overwhelm me. I love the light, fresh smell of the Macadamia and the results and texture are the same as the Morracan. I apply it when my hair is almost dry and then I finish the blowout and style as normal.
gloMineral Body Glisen... This is a great body shimmer that doesn't add "tan" but a nice, soft glow and big plus, no sticky side effects. I put it on with a MAC 187 brush. I go for the arms, legs and decollete.
gloMinera Honey Sugar Butter Body Wash... What can I say this makes your shower smell like a cinnabon... great way to start the day!
Michael Kors Leg Shine... A beautiful, elegant floral scented leg shimmer. Makes your legs look crazy long and the scent is a perfect touch.
Sonya Dakar Ultraluxe Hand Treatment... Say goodbye to ugly hands! Start early and get a boost on those ugly brown dark spots. I use this every night before I fall asleep and right before I leave the house. It has spf so stop sun damage in it's tracks.
Sonya Dakar Cypress Citrus Wash... I love the smell of this wash and it leaves my skin soft, blemish free and perfectly clean without that gross squeaky feeling.
Rhonda Allison Amino Peptide Moisturizer... A rich, creamy, citrus scented, luxurious moisturizer. Leaves my skin perfectly moisturized without feeling greasy, heavy or dry.
Becca Cosmetics Stick Foundation... A little goes a long way and conceals perfectly every little (and big) blemish I don't want showing. I apply it with a MAC 130 foundation brush for a flawless barely there finish.
Becca Lip Tint in Raspberry... a cream, matte finish lip tint with a fruity scent. I wear this solo for a soft perfectly red lip.
Bobby Brown cream liner... it's a cult item that I just can't live without. Right now I am all about the Denim Ink.

Tu'el Eva's Esthetics Crystal C
My love for Vitamin C...
I Feel like Vitamin C is the super-man in my battle against wrinkles. I was introduced to it 8 years ago in Beauty School and we have been best friends ever since. Vitamin C Alleviates topical signs of aging, helps improve firmness, helps prevent sun damage and hyper-pigmentation. But I have yet to make a commitment to any one particular brand. I have tried them all and for awhile there I was going steady with the Jan Marini C-esta C... which I still love but I'm just having a hard time with the most recent price increase of $77 to $90 a $13 jump! So I decided to take a step out on my love for JMC and try Crystal C by Tu'el formerly Eva's Ethetics. Here is what I found.
I like how lite it was and completely smell free. Which is big since the JMSR C-esta had a mild odd smell. The Crystal C layered nice with my other products (a glyco serum, moisturizer and spf) I applied Crystal C first. The product didn't roll or build-up under my moisturizer. At first I did noticed a few breakouts but they cleared up after a few days and my skin was flawless after. The only difference I noticed was that the JMC left my skin tight/firmer and I didn't get that with the Crystal C.
Overall... 4.5 stars... the price is nice at $57/oz vs. $99/oz for JMC. Lite, fragrance-free. A great change for the warmer months.
Thanks to Tu'el for the pic!

A Trip to Euphoria Lounge Salon & Spa | Monterey, CA
After calling 8 different salons I found a place that could take me last minute for a Wash & Blow dry. I have long Asian hair so not always the easiest to style. I found Euphoria Lounge Salon & Spa on Yelp and was set up with Cammie. The receptionist was polite and helpful.
When I pulled up I was stoked to find a spot right in the front, since there is no parking lot and street parking can be tricky in that neighborhood.
The salon is cute, obviously new and very well decorated. The color scheme is black and white with a lot of natural and overhead lighting. Tons of mirrors and a chic vibe. I tried to take pics but didn't want to look too obvious. I like that it was SUPER CLEAN, a big thing for me.
Cammie was friendly and did a great consultation. Which I have never had before, just for a blowout. But I guess that is why the results were so great. We chatted a bit during the shampoo. She used Moroccan oil shampoo & Conditioner and did a great scalp massage. When we returned to her station she began the blowout and I hit up my flash cards for that nights Anat. exam. She respected my want for quiet, to study and didn't try to push me into conversation. Total plus. The results were fantastic. She styled my hair exactly like I asked and didn't use much product.
Overall... Will return again! Great consultation and super friendly staff. But again not much retail section... maybe it's the economy but I like retail and am always disappointed when I don't find much to choose from.
